PostSubject: Din Thomas Recovering, Wants Rematch With Kenny Florian   Mon 01 Oct 2007, 12:10 am

Posted by MMA Junkie on September 27, 2007 at 7:05 pm ET

UFC lightweight Din Thomas (20-7 MMA, 5-3 UFC), who appeared to blow out his knee last week in a UFC Fight Night 11 loss to Kenny Florian, officially suffered a torn meniscus, stretched ACL, and a bruised femur and tibia in the defeat.

The fighter got the results from an MRI and will see a specialist next week in Atlanta to determine a timetable for his return, his camp today told (www.mmajunkie.com).

Thomas plans to have his knee scoped, and with his doctor’s permission, will return to training in two or three weeks.

In the mean time, “The Ultimate Fighter 4” cast member and nine-year MMA veteran has already begin the campaign for a rematch with Florian. Their main-event bout ended prematurely when Thomas shot for a takedown and suffered an injury as cartilage broke off and lodged in the fighter’s knee, causing the immobility.

Florian ultimately finished the fight with a rear-naked choke at 4:31 of the first round.

On Tuesday MMAjunkie.com reported that Florian, who had fought for the third time in just fives months, plans to take some time off and won’t compete again in 2007.

Kenny said in his web chat on Thursday that he would give Din a rematch and when I asked him if he thought the kicks was a factor he said it definitely took away from the knees stability! He said a professional athlete don’t just step and blow out a knee!

Ha. I agree but it will again be a good fight. Kenny needs a title shot if he wins again though.

Yeah i think right now it should be Penn, Stevenson, Florian! But if Hureta beats Guida he should be in the mix!
